English Courses

Our English Courses are justifiably popular.

  • We aim to improve all the four skill areas of Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, but the main focus of all our courses is to get you speaking English, not just studying it. Knowing a lot about a language is not enough - you have to be able to use it.
  • At CBE you won`t be put behind a computer and left to your own devices - our classes are fully interactive and designed to help you speak English with confidence.
  • We will teach you grammar in a way that makes it easy to understand, and we will show you how to develop your vocabulary effectively.
  • All classes are fully conducted in English (no knowledge of Dutch necessary)

Levels

Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate

Classes will focus on improving general communication in the target language through activities based on listening, speaking, grammar skills, etc.

We have split each level into A, B and C.
A-classes start at the beginning of the coursebook, B continues about a third of the way through and C continues toward the end.

Cambridge Certificates

FCE (First Certificate in English), CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) & CPE (Certificate in Proficiency English

These classes are geared towards eventually preparing you for the FCE, CAE or CPE exams. You are not, however, obliged to take the exams.

If you would prefer not to take the exams the class will still equip you with the skills needed to improve all areas of your English.

IELTS

(International English Language Testing System)

This class is specifically for those in need of an IELTS score in order to enrol at university or emigrate to an English speaking country. There are two types of IELTS exam – Academic & General. Although the majority of students usually need an academic score, both types can be covered.

This exam is generally seen as an alternative to TOEFL – the American equivalent. We do not teach TOEFL, but you will find that IELTS is now widely accepted.
